Genuinely demanding, and worth every step

I signed up for Hawar Islands Conservation Camp in Hawar not really knowing what to expect. The first two days were hard — long walks, early starts, and a lot of carrying — but the instructors paced it properly and nobody was left behind. By the end I was doing things I would have said I could not do. I came home noticeably fitter and much more confident.

The best week of my summer

I did Hawar Islands Conservation Camp in Hawar with a group of people I had never met, and by day three we were working as a team. The programme is well thought out: you learn real outdoor skills, not just how to survive, and there is time to actually enjoy where you are. The safety briefings were thorough without being frightening. I would go back tomorrow.

Tough, but brilliantly organised

What impressed me about Hawar Islands Conservation Camp in Hawar was the organisation. Equipment was checked properly, the route was planned around the group's ability, and the instructors clearly knew the area. It is physically demanding and you should train a little beforehand, but the support is there when you need it. A genuinely well-run programme.
