Weekend conservation work on the Red Sea shoreline, including mangrove planting and debris surveys.

What you will get out of it

Transect surveying, recording debris by type and weight, planting mangrove seedlings correctly, and working safely in shallow water and heat.

The programme

Each weekend covers one site. Volunteers survey a fixed transect, record what they find, then plant and water seedlings. Findings feed a running record kept on site.

The most meaningful thing I have done

Jeddah Coastal Conservation Volunteering in Taif put us to work with people who live there, not just alongside them. We were given a real task with a real deadline and the local team told us plainly what was useful and what was not. That honesty is what made it worthwhile. I came away with a much better understanding of the place than any trip could have given me.

You can see the difference you make

What I liked about Jeddah Coastal Conservation Volunteering in Taif is that the work is visible. By the end of the week you can point at what changed and know you did it. The coordinators were organised, the days were well planned, and there was enough structure that nobody stood around wondering what to do. I would do it again without hesitating.

Well organised and genuinely useful

I was sceptical about volunteering programmes, but Jeddah Coastal Conservation Volunteering in Taif is not a photo opportunity. We worked full days on something the community had asked for, and the local partners decided the priorities, not us. The briefing was clear about what we would and would not be doing. That respect for the community is what makes it work.
